About Amarna West Publications
When I began getting the word out about Journey through Darkness, I tried to find the best way to introduce it to the public, because being a self-published author means that I have to be my own agent and publicist. Most people I talked to wondered if I had a website. So that was the first thing I did. I built the website in about a week.
Then I started thinking that it would be cool to team up with other writers on the same self-publishing path, which is often more challenging than traditional publishing methods.
Amarna West Publications was born.
I started getting calls and emails from reluctant artists of all backgrounds asking me what the website was about. Eventually, I realized that there were many artists other than writers in the same boat. They wanted to get noticed by other people but weren’t sure how to go about doing it. Some are not ready for public recognition, so they haven’t joined the community yet.
I understand completely the courage that comes with introducing your “precious” to the world. When you’ve been writing or composing in the comfort zone of your own space, it is tough making that move to share your work with others. What if no one likes it? If that is the case then it is easier to go back to your art as a hobby where the only person you have to please is yourself.
But what if people love your work? Then you have expectations to fulfill.
I think the best way to take that first step towards making your dream a reality is by surrounding yourself with like-minded people. In my experience that has not always been family or friends, for most of the time they could not relate to what I was going through. Sometimes you have to rely on the kindness of strangers to get you through. So that is what Amarna West Publications offers to the public, the kindness of strangers.
As our community grows, so will we. As writers, musicians, dancers, etc. we all understand the hard work and dedication that goes with perfecting our talents. The road to success is often paved in failure. But we will not give up even then, because we gain our best inspiration from each other.
